Water Supply

Rapid improvements are being made in augmenting drinking water supply and sanitation in India, due to concerted efforts by the various levels of government and communities at improving coverage. The level of investment in water and sanitation, albeit low by international standards, has increased in the size during the 2000s. India comes in the first place for having greatest number of urban dwelling inhabitants living without sanitation. India tops the urban sanitation crisis, has the largest amount of urban dwellers without sanitation, and the most open defectors (urban) with over 5 million people. Advantages of water supply
 Dams can prevent flooding in the areas.
 They are made to last a very long time.
 Dams provide cheap electricity for millions of people.
 They give water to farmers and their animals easier.
 Dams can store lots of water for future use.
Disadvantages of water supply
 Dams are expensive to build and maintain, so they have to keep working for a very long time in the future to pay off that debt.
 Some building of big dams create earth quake, due to digging.
 Having a dam near housing can cause floods leaving people having to give up their house.
